Iam Sims

Ian is grateful to have been introduced to Yoga in 2007, seeking to recover from debilitating lower back pain. The practice not only helped him heal from that injury, but also renewed his entire relationship of body, spirit, and mind. With his students, he lovingly shares how the earnest practice of Yoga leads to physical and mental wellbeing, but also beyond – to a deep sense of inner peace.

In 2014, Ian completed a Special Program in Ayurvedic Dietetics, Herbs and Massage at the Chakrapani Ayurveda Clinic & Research Institute in Jaipur, India. After 10 years of dedicated personal practice, Ian completed the Yogaworks 200-hr teacher training program in January 2018. Most recently, he has deepened his practice with through the study of Vipassana mediation, attending a 10-day silent retreat at Dhamma Dhara in Massachusetts.

Following in the lineage of the the great yogic healer T. Krishnamachayra, Ian leads a well-rounded practice that draws equally on the Eight Limbs of Yoga – highlighting intelligent alignment, breath awareness, and stillness of mind. Additionally, as a lifelong singer and musician, Ian conducts regular group Sound Bath Meditations in the NYC area, as well as in private sessions. Sharing the profound healing power of harmony and vibration is one of his greatest joys.
